What To Keep In Mind When Choosing The Doors Of Your House?

July 5, 2019 By Jainnie Smith Leave a Comment

Changing the doors of your home is one of the reforms without reform faster, relatively inexpensive and resultants to achieve a change in the aesthetics and functionality of your home.

The doors, their frames, and moldings offer a good representation of the style chosen in each house: modern, minimalist, rustic, etc. And above, they allow you to improve the acoustic and thermal insulation, modify the distribution and save space, according to their characteristics.

To clarify things a little before choosing your next doors, let’s review their typology point by point, starting with the type of opening.

Which opening system is best for your stays?

99.9% of the door installation you have crossed in your life were collapsible. More or less modern, but collapsible: you activate the latch, the safety mechanism is released, and you push or pull it towards you so that the door leaf opens diagonally to the walls, the leaf being held by the hinges that They cling tightly to the wall.

And hey, not so bad. But times change, possibilities grow. And, depending on whether the size of the surface you have is a problem or not, you should seriously consider going to the sliding doors, which save an average of 1.5 m² compared to a conventional opening door.

In addition, a sliding door allows you to be even more concise in the design, regardless of even the jambs if you wish – by the way, do not you know what a jamb is? I explain in this post – with a clean presentation and, if you wish, also without work (in the case of superficial sliding doors, not embedded in the interior of the wall).

A little in the middle term, although already within the terrain of the traditional swing doors, are those with a concealed hinge and flush blade on the wall that, if they are painted the same color as this, will go completely unnoticed to the eye and will provide more perceived amplitude to space

Only the handle will be uncovered, and this is where you can give personality to that door (although the most usual in these cases is to opt for a minimalist design, according to this unobtrusive opening system).

This also leaves the wall intact, without moldings, since it rotates on a vertical axis that can be located at any point of the width of the door, giving great originality to it (and distributing the width of the sheet deployed between two spaces, if this would be useful to us).

Interesting options to decorate with your door

A great idea, in those houses with little light or in which you want to take advantage of the one that arrives on the other side of the door, is to place transparent doors. If this option bothers you, you can also place glass only on the top cloth of the door (the fraction of the wall that abuts the door at the top).
